Q: How was ULSF formed? Who formed it and why?

ULSF was formed in 2015 by Umesh Kumar, together with some villagers highlighting health as a metaphor for basic ignored needs of economically weaker people. Umesh Kumar, founder of ULSF is the head of the organization which is governed by seven-member governing body. Organization does not believe in a lot of hierarchical layer, so everyone is team of ULSF.

Q: Are you a registered body?

Yes, ULSF is Registered under Society Registration Act 21, 1860

Q: I want to see your processing center in Dighi. Who should I co-ordinate with, for this?

Q: Can I come with you in villages where you are working?

You are most welcome to travel with our team members when they go on field visits but you will have to work according to their schedule, the facilities and the living condition at the villages are the most basic, so be prepared for some rough living. Let us know your free dates and if there is someone traveling at that time, we will let you know .

Q: How can I volunteer with ULSF?

Anyone irrespective of age, gender, education, nationality can volunteer with ULSF in many different ways, even sitting at home. Visit our website for a list of volunteering opportunities, write to us at mail ulsfngo@gmail.com or call up the ULSF office (7250612823/7033765528) to find out what suits your circumstances.

Q: Do I have to pay any membership fee to become your member/volunteer?

No, there is no membership fee for joining ULSF. Anyone anywhere can become a member by joining our work in different capacities.

Q: I want to do an internship with ULSF. Who should I contact for this?

For interning with ULSF please go through this link…xxxxx…, kindly note that the minimum duration of internship is of one month and intern have to work closely with team from Monday to Friday (10am – 5pm). Q: Will I get certificate, if I volunteer with ULSF?

On request we will surly issue a certificate for the work and duration of time that a person volunteer with ULSF on the tasks assigned by us. On the other hand, we strongly discourage people from approaching us with request their friends, relatives, children, college students wanting a certificate when they are not actually interested in working with us as volunteer.

Q: I want to join you formally,how do I do that?

Send us your details and whenever there is an opening, we will get in touch with you but if you are keen on working with us the best way is to start with doing voluntary work with us. That will give you a first idea about our work, our work culture etc. send us your detailed on ulsfngo@gmail.com for future reference.

Q: I want to do my internship; how do I proceed?

Please ask your institute to send us a formal letter, mentioning about your interest in doing an internship with ULSF. Also, please mention about the duration, specific interest area, clear and detailed information from your side will help us revert back at the earliest.

Q: what logistics expenses and stipend does ULSF provide to interns?

We would be happy to help with arranging accommodation and other aspects but given our limited resources we are unable to offer accommodation and other stay related arrangements to interns. Also, we do not give stipend for internship.

Q : I really like your work and would like to volunteer with ULSF? What opportunities are there for volunteers?

Good to know that you wish to connect with our work. There are many ways in which you can volunteer with your time, skills and even networking. For us to better understand you are requested to fill up the form also please get in touch with the ULSF office for some local opportunities and to connect with the local the local network of volunteer. Q: Can I be a part of your distribution or can I travel with you in the villages?

Q: How do you raise funds for regular functioning?

ULSF manages its fund through income from three different sources.

  • Self-Generated income of members.

  • Individual donations: From people who have gone beyond giving us their material only and understood the fact that we also need money to manage the entire logistics of reaching material from cities to the villages.

  • Corporate/Institution/Retails/can also contribute to ULSF general funds or partner with us on specific project.

  • Funding from funding agencies: from time to time we get funding limited to certain projects or for certain duration.

Q: How do I make monetary contribution to ULSF?

Here are some option below to contribute.

  • For receipt purpose, please send your name, amount, email ID, tele no. and address to, ulsfngo@gmail.com with date & mode of transfer, transfer code/ cheque number, Bank’s name and location with 4 digits of your account number.

Q: Why do you need monetary support?

The entire operation is a huge logistical exercise; where money is needed for expenses on transportation, storage space and manpower for sorting, packing etc., Office expenses and team salaries.

Q: How much Tax exemption will I get for my monetary contribution to ULSF?

According to Government norms whatever the amount will.

Q: Can you tell me how exactly my money has been utilized & for what purpose?

All the contribution we get go into a big pool of funds we have for carrying on our activities. It is thus difficult to specify the exact utilization of each person’s contribution.

You can however get all information about our work, where all we are working, what activities are happening.

Q: If I want to open a dropping center at my place what is the procedure?

If you are in the cities where we have our own operations you can get in touch with our office to find out more about setting up a dropping center.

Q: If I want to send money by cheque/draft, in whose name shall I make the cheque?

All donations should be made in the name of “UCHIT LOK SEVA FOUNDATION”.

Please make sure you get the receipt for the same and also lease give us details (Pan no, name, address, email id, contact no.) at the time of making the contribution. We need this information as a statutory requirement under the law.

Q: I notice that there is no volunteer run dropping center in my area. I want to start one in my home. How can I do this and who should I talk to, to guide me on this?

Thanks first for your offer to open a volunteer run dropping center in your area. For a permanent dropping center, most important thing is how you will be in regular contact to the ULSF office. Please do share a thought on this. Also, we request you to visit our office and processing center to see and understand our work firsthand to understand in detail what we do and how.

You can involve your family and friends in this fun and hugely satisfying process.

You can also tap into your vast network of family and friends to spare the word about ULSF’S work.

Q: Why target only Rural area, the situation is equally grim closer home; in the city slum?

Our focus on the most far-flung villages comes from the understanding that these are the most neglected, resource and opportunity starved pockets.

Q: How do you build up partnership in the villages?

Having sound and credible organizations with strong connect with their communities is a critical part of the entire process. We use multiple means to identify organizations; media reports, local references, our present network of partner groups, personal visits etc. the partner list is a dynamic document that we keep evaluating constantly based on their program implementation, feedback reports, field visit reports etc.
